We run a family farm in Alvechurch, Worcestershire, and somewhere along the way we ended up putting three giant hat tipis on the best field we own.
Here’s roughly how that happened. We like hosting people. We like being outside. And we had a view that felt frankly rude to keep to ourselves. So the tipis went up, we told a few people, and we’ve been saying yes ever since.
We have three giant hat tipis on the lawn which can sit 80 of you for the wedding breakfast, and 120 once the evening kicks off and everyone’s abandoned their seating plan. There’s a mini hat tipi alongside where we often serve welcome and reception drinks from and then this naturally turns into another chill out spot. With the open front of the tipis you have an amazing view of the Worcestershire countryside.
There is 2 ways you can have a ceremony; in the woodland, which is quiet and close and does something lovely with the afternoon light. Or out on the tipi lawn, in the open, with the view behind you.
So we’re here on the day and not just for the tour and then off to hide. Us, in the field, keeping the timings on track and quietly sorting the small stuff before it ever reaches you – usually while carrying something heavy. You won’t be faced with strangers on your wedding day.
We only do this through the summer, and only a handful of times each season, which is exactly how we like it. It means we know your names, your running order and what you like to drink
